Land Referral Process and Systems Workshop

This project provides an opportunity to bring together BC First Nations involved with developing land referral processes, or land referral tracking systems.

BC First Nations receive hundreds of referral applications dealing with forestry and crown land. While the long term goal is to work towards setting up a comprehensive information management system for First Nations land stewardship, this project contributes to examining how land referrals are processed, stored, and analyzed. This workshop helped First Nations communities that are thinking about developing a referral tracking system, avoid having to start from the beginning. The workshop also assisted in providing better decision making information to communities, while reducing their administrative burden.

Held in Prince George, BC, the workshop was attended by 50 to 70 participants-largely technical staff of First Nations communities.
