Opportunity to participate in the evolution of CGDI technical standards

GeoConnections intends to participate in the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Web Services, Phase 4 (OWS-4) Interoperability Initiative. The OWS-4 Initiative is part the OGC's Interoperability Program, a global, collaborative, hands-on engineering and testing program designed to deliver prototype interoperable technologies and proven candidate specifications into OGC's Specification Development Program. In OGC's Interoperability Initiatives, international teams of technology providers work together to solve specific geoprocessing interoperability problems posed by Initiative sponsors. GeoConnections priorities in OWS-4 are:
- Adding multilingual capability to OGC Web Services
- Adding digital rights management to OGC Web Services
- Finalizing a Data Aggregation Service
The OWS-4 RFQ was issued on April 11, 2006 (http://www.opengeospatial.org/press/?page=pressrelease&year=0&prid=251). As a sponsor, GeoConnections will support Canadian industrial partners who are working on GeoConnections' priorities within the OWS-4 Initiative.
